History of Claridge Homes

Claridge Homes Group of Companies has been a leader in the Ottawa residential development marketplace since 1986. It first established itself with the development of several key high-rise buildings, niche condominium projects and turnkey public housing.

In 1992, Claridge Homes established its first suburban community in Ottawa, called Longshire Village, marking the entrance into a new era of housing development. Claridge Homes quickly established a reputation for exceptional quality and value, rising to become the second largest home builder in the Ottawa-Carleton region. Since that time, Claridge Homes has built approximately 5,000 homes in communities throughout the Ottawa-Carleton region.

In recent years, Claridge Homes has forged ahead to become the leading high-rise condominium developer in Ottawa, with 15 high-rise developments to its credit. Not only is Claridge Homes re-defining the Ottawa skyline with innovative new projects such as Fallingwaters, 700 Sussex and Claridge Plaza, but it is also expanding into the South Florida market, having recently launched the exciting new Sonata Beach Club condominium building in Pompano Beach.

A registered professional civil engineer, Mr. Bill Malhotra immigrated to Canada 1971, where for six years he was employed as a consulting engineer with Robert Halsall and Associates. For the following nine years, Mr. Malhotra acted as the Chief Structural Engineer for the City of Ottawa, where he developed a strong understanding of the local development community.

Mr. Malhotra privately developed his first property in 1986, thus leading to the formation of Claridge Homes Group of Companies. Since its inception, Claridge Homes has grown into a thriving company supporting 150 full-time employees and has become a market leader in home building and high-rise property development.

In recognition of his influential work as a leading entrepreneur, Mr. Malhotra has been the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the Indo-Canadian Chamber of Commerce Businessman of the Year in 2002, and Ottawa Life Magazine's "Top 50 People in the Capital."
